1. What are the hours for use of construction and lawn equipment?

The Village limits the use of heavy construction and lawn maintenance equipment during the overnight and early morning hours. Snow blowers are not restricted. 

Heavy construction equipment, including bulldozers, jackhammers, pile drivers, cement mixers, tractors, and other power equipment, may not be used on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Otherwise, hours of use are: 

Monday - Friday: 7:30 am to 8 pm

Saturday: 9 am to 5 pm 

Sunday: noon to 4 pm 

Lawn maintenance equipment may be used: 

Monday - Friday: 7:30 am to 8 pm

Saturday: 9 am to 5 pm

 Sunday: noon to 4 pm

2. When do I need a building permit?

4. Does Western Springs have transfer stamps?

No, the Village does not have transfer stamps.

5. Where can I get a plat of survey for my property?

A plat of survey is typically provided to the buyer at the real estate closing. If you do not have a plat of survey you may want to check with your attorney. Numerous companies in the Chicagoland area provide survey services and can be found online.

6. How do I properly display my house numbers?

To help police, fire and other public service officials to quickly locate homes, especially in an emergency, the Village asks owners to prominently display house numbers—either directly above or on the side of the front door. The numbers should be at least three inches in height and easily visible from the street.
