[ARCHIVED] Reports of Cloudy Water in Old Town

The Public Works Department has been receiving calls from residents today stating some are experiencing cloudy water in portions of Old Town North near Hampton Avenue and Rose Avenue.

Public Works has surveyed the area and inspected the sewers and water valves and have currently found no indications of a water main break in the area. Hampton Avenue is serviced by a 12" and 10" water main off of Hillgrove Avenue. Yesterday evening there was a water main break on Hillgrove Avenue that affected the distribution line to this portion of the subdivision.

It is believed at this time that due to the water shut off from yesterday that flow in the pipe in this area was temporarily changed and may have caused sediment in the pipe to be stirred up. Additional information regarding water main breaks can be found in the attached "Understanding Water Main Breaks" document.
