The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways wants to improve Plainfield Road.
In 2021, the Plainfield Road Corridor Study Team did a public survey and hosted a virtual public meeting to gather feedback from the public regarding future improvements to Plainfield Road between County Line Road and East Avenue.
In 2022, the project team select a preferred alternative. In part, because of the community input on various alternatives, the 3-lane alternative was selected to move forward for further refinement and detailed design. This preferred alternative includes a 3-lane roadway throughout, intersection improvements, continuous sidewalk, shared-use path, and a closed drainage system with curb and gutter improvements.
The corridor involves the following communities: the Village of Burr Ridge, the Village of Indian Head Park, the Village of Western Springs, unincorporated La Grange Highlands, the City of Countryside, the Village of La Grange, and the Village of McCook.
An additional public meeting is being planned for late 2023/early 2024 and feedback is welcome throughout this process. Learn more at: improveplainfieldroad.org
