The Contractor expects to begin work on the replacement of a Village 36” sanitary sewer that runs under 47th Street located at Fair Elms Avenue. The work will require reducing 47th Street down to one lane Monday morning. Traffic will be controlled by the contractor with additional traffic control devices and multiple flaggers. There will be traffic delays due to this work on Monday. It is our expectation that by mid-day work will progress and that an additional lane will be reopened. The work is expected to take a few days to complete. Steel plates will be used to cover the sewer trenches temporarily after sewer installation is complete (with “bump” signs posted). The plates will be removed with final pavement restoration to be done hopefully by May 19th at the latest.
Also next week a second contractor work crew will continue installing storm sewer along the north side of 47th Street near Commonwealth Avenue working eastward.
We anticipate storm sewer work on Central may begin as soon as the end of next week. When that work begins they will be working in the west parkway of Central at 47th Street working northward with new sewer installation.
