[ARCHIVED] Reminder: Hydrant Flushing Ongoing Through the Month of September

As a reminder to all residents, hydrant flushing began on September 9th and will continue throughout the community through the end of this month.

During and immediately following a flushing in your area residents may experience cloudy water due to the stirred up sediment in their pipes. The purpose of the flushing program is to remove iron and sand sediment from the water distribution system. The water is safe to drink throughout the flushing period.

The cloudy water may be more prevalent this year than in past year's flushing because the Village was unable to conduct a system wide hydrant flushing in 2012 due to the drought and construction at the water plant.

Residents are reminded to run the lowest level cold water tap in their home until the water runs clear, if they experience cloudy water after the flushing process. Mailing cards with the hydrant flushing schedule were mailed to all residents at the end of August.

If residents did not receive a mailing they can download a copy below. Daily updates will be posted to the Municipal Services News section and will be on the Village voice mail system at 708-246-1800 x 305 at the end of each day to update the progress of the flushing.
