Concerns about Low Flying Aircraft

The Village has received numerous inquiries from residents concerned about low flying aircraft. The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) has not replied to the Village's most recent requests for additional information, but has said in the past that sporadic use of Runway 13C requires planes to fly lower over Western Springs, but that this happens infrequently – only about 1 percent of the year.

The CDA has a flight-tracker program accessible on its website, which can be used to see what’s happening at Midway. Official aircraft noise complaints can be submitted here. Complaints are forwarded to the CDA for tracking purposes, and for inclusion in Airport Noise Management System reports.

Unfortunately, the Village does not have authority over or input into flight patterns as this is governed by the Federal Aviation Administration.
