Register to Vote & Request a Mail-in Ballot

Now is the time to make sure you are registered to vote, and to request a ballot for the General Election on November 3.

For information about voting in Illinois, visit the Illinois State Board of Elections website.

Register to vote directly online, and request a ballot by mail or online. You can also check your current registration status online. Requests to vote by mail are being processed until October 29.

Due to COVID-19 all 2020 General Election voters are encouraged to cast a ballot prior to Election Day, either by mail or during early voting. The Cook County Clerk’s office has confirmed a number of secure drop boxes that are available, for those who wish to deliver their ballots directly to the Clerk’s Office. 

Important Election Dates

September 24 Mail-in ballots sent to voters whose applications were approved
October 6        Last day for in-person voter registration with deputy registrars and election officials

October 7       Grace period registration and voting begins at designated locations
October 18       Last day for online voter registration
October 19     First day for early voting
October 29     Last day to apply for a mail-in ballot
November 2   Last day for early voting
November 3   Election Day: last day mail-in ballots postmarked
