Message From The Chief
Western Springs Police Department
From the Desk of the Chief of Police
Thank you for visiting the Western Springs Police Department website. As your Chief of Police, I am both honored and privileged to serve the community alongside the fine men and women of the Police Department.
We have an outstanding and dedicated group of sworn police officers, civilian support staff, and volunteers who are committed to serving, protecting, and educating our residents. Our agency takes tremendous pride in the positive contributions we make in maintaining the high quality of life for our residents, businesses, and visitors. We are proud of our specialized law enforcement and community policing initiatives that help preserve our perennially low crime rate.
The Western Springs Police Department is currently comprised of 21 sworn police officers, 5 non-sworn employees, and 5 volunteer auxiliary officers. In 2004, the Department became nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, (CALEA). I am proud to announce that the Department recently attained its sixth consecutive reaccreditation award in November of 2020. In order to achieve and maintain accredited status, our agency’s policies and procedures must remain in compliance with national standards set forth by CALEA. This designation signifies our ongoing commitment to professional excellence as we are 1 of only 41 police agencies in Illinois and 1 of 686 nationwide who are currently accredited by CALEA.
Our agency participates in several multi-jurisdictional task forces which include the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, Internet Crimes Against Children, Major Case Assistance Team, Northern Illinois Police Alarm System, and the DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group.
Please take a moment to learn more about our Department through this website. We welcome your input and comments and we will continue to work tirelessly to protect our community by providing innovative and effective problem-solving services in partnership with our residents.
