Village ordinances prohibit persons under the age of 18 years of age from using or possessing tobacco products. Western Springs' officers routinely enforce the ordinance and a violation can result in a $50 fine.
By state law, persons under the age of 21 may not consume or possess alcoholic beverages. Additionally, the state has adopted a zero tolerance for the consumption of alcohol by drivers under the age of 21. If you are under 21 and stopped while driving a motor vehicle after consuming any alcoholic beverages, your driver's license may be revoked. Possession of alcohol by any underage person will result in a fine and / or community service.
Skateboarding / Rollerblading
Village ordinance prohibits skateboarding on the Burlington railroad platform or anywhere specifically prohibited by posted signs, including the Garden Market Shopping Center and the Grand Avenue Community Center parking lot. It also prohibits using ramps or jumps on any public sidewalk or street. The ordinance does allow for skateboarders and rollerbladers to use streets and sidewalks with some restrictions.
