Criminal Investigation Division Responsibilities
The Criminal Investigation Division is comprised of two Detectives and is responsible for the investigation of reported and unreported criminal activity within the Village. These investigations include interviews of complainants, witnesses, and suspects. Offenses range from criminal sexual assault, robbery, aggravated assault / battery, burglary, theft, and motor vehicle theft. The vast majority of crimes reported in the Village are property crimes such as burglary and theft.
The Division is responsible for the processing of all evidence and property. The evidence is collected and then stored until used in a court proceeding and released or ordered to be destroyed by the court system.
The goal of the Criminal Investigation Division is to investigate, identify, and criminally prosecute those who violate the municipal, state, and federal codes.
