Emergency Medical Services
Emergency Medical Services operations include response to and treatment of medical emergency cases that involve:
- Cardiac emergencies
- Mutual aid requests
- Respiratory emergencies
- Trauma (including vehicle, home, and sports accidents)
- Weather-related emergencies
- Other medical emergency cases - Seizure, diabetes, etc.
A fire engine with additional personnel responds with the ambulance to provide sufficient resources to handle any situation that may be encountered.
The fee schedule associated with ambulance transports are as follows (updated January 2023):
Fees for ambulance services and emergency medical services
(Basic Life Support Services)
(Advanced Life Support Services #1)
(Advanced Life Support Services #2)
Mileage charge (if treatment rendered and transported, mileage will be calculated on portal-to-portal basis
The above fees shall be adjusted annually, effective January 1 of each year, beginning in January 1, 2023, reflecting the actual cost incurred for transport of residents and non-residents. Annual reports and the adjusted fees for the then-current calendar year will be posted on this page.
When ambulance or emergency services are rendered by the Village of Western Springs to residents, such persons shall not be billed for the remaining charges which may exist once final payment has been received from all insurance providers of the resident.
When ambulance or emergency services are rendered by the Village of Western Springs to non-residents, such persons shall be billed for the remaining charges which may exist once final payment has been received from all insurance providers of the non-resident.
