Senior Center – The Western Springs Senior Center, located at the Grand Avenue Community Center, 4211 Grand Avenue, operates Monday-Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. Drop-in business hours (services available) are on Monday and Wednesday from 1 to 4 pm. All residents age 55 and older are welcome to participate in the center's various activities. The Mission of the Western Springs Senior Center is to develop a CULTURAL, EDUCATIONAL and SUPPORTIVE environment for ALL senior residents (and non-residents) of Western Springs. The environment is designed to enhance the quality of life by promoting wellness and socialization, providing the opportunity to learn new skills and helping seniors to remain involved and contributing citizens of their community. Further, the Center is a safe, nurturing, happy place for seniors to grow in friendship and in knowledge and be accepted without reservation. |
Western Springs Seniors – Western Springs Seniors offer a variety of social and educational activities separate from the Senior Center. The group meets at 1 p.m. in the Recreation Center, 1500 Walker, on the second Monday of each month. For more information on Western Springs Seniors, please call 708/246-9070.
Taxi Service – Taxi service is available for seniors age 65 years and older and persons with disabilities. Coupon books for the senior taxi program cost $5 and may be purchased at the Senior Center. The coupons can be used only by Western Springs' residents, and the cab ride must begin or end in Western Springs.
Medic Alert – Police Department staff will make a daily telephone call to a resident living alone at the request of the individual, their friends and/or family. To sign up for this service, please fill out the form online or visit the Police Department.
Vacation Check Request – Residents may notify the department that they will be out of town and provides the department with contact information should officers observe a problem at the residence. To sign up for this service, please fill out the form online or visit the Police Department.
