Qualifications

• Must be between the ages of 20 and 34 at the time of application deadline (unless statutorily exempted by 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6).
• Must be a citizen of the United States.
• Must have obtained a high school diploma or have an equivalent high school education.
• Must have an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university or must have successfully completed and received a passing grade in at least 60 hours of college level course work from an accredited college or university.
• Must be in good physical health.
• Must be of good moral character.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must not have tattoos that would be visible in whole or in part while wearing any uniform apparel of the department.
• No felony convictions.
• Submission of online application and required documentation.
• $25.00 application fee.
• Must attend the orientation session.
• Must successfully pass the written exam in order to be invited to participate in the Physical Ability Testing.
