Approximately 45 men and women—a combination of full-time and paid, on-call staff—work out of the Fire Station located directly north of Village Hall at 4353 Wolf Road. The non-emergency number for the Fire Department is 708/246-1182. Anyone interested in becoming a paid, on-call firefighter should call 708-246-1800, Ext. 171.
| The mission of the Western Springs Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is to provide personnel and equipment at a state of readiness to protect the lives and property of the inhabitants of the Village of Western Springs from the adverse effects of fire, medical emergencies or disasters. |

Emergency
- Emergency Medical Services - advanced life support (ALS) with two modern ambulances.
- Fire Suppression - Two first line fire units - one pumper and one aerial ladder - plus two fully equipped reserve pumpers. • Hazardous Materials Response - to spills, leaks or accidents involving hazardous chemicals.
- High-Elevation Rescue - for persons stuck on water towers, antennas and building.
- Below Grade Rescue - when victims are trapped in open excavations.
- Confined Space Rescue - of persons caught in sewers, underground pits, or other areas requiring special training and equipment to enter.
- Carbon Monoxide Alarms - we can investigate the cause of the activation and provide a loaner back up alarm for your peace of mind.
- Technical Rescue - people trapped in machinery or other situations.
- Fire Investigation - trained members who investigate every fire in our Village.
- Emergency Services Disaster Agency to promote, educate, mitigate and recover from natural and man-made disasters within the community and the region
Non-Emergency
- Public Education - fire safety classes - both scheduled in schools and on request.
- Home Fire Inspections - upon request.
- Commercial Fire Inspection - at least one time each year in every commercial occupancy.
- Fire Station Tours - call for information or to schedule.
- CPR classes - call for schedule.
- Block Party Program - have a fire truck at your next block party - call for information.
- Fire Prevention Week - Open House - every October during Fire Prevention Week.
