Official Start Date
The contractor will be starting the underground sewer portion of the roadway project tomorrow, August 2, weather permitting. They plan to begin work on Johnson Avenue and 47th Street and work north. They will be moving over to Lawn Avenue upon the completion of the sewer work on Johnson. The sewer work is estimated to take 3-4 weeks. Prepare for partial roadway closures during this portion of the project. Residents will continue to have access to their driveways except for the short periods when the contractor is working directly in front of your home. You will be notified in person if you will temporarily lose access. Please be careful when driving on Johnson and Lawn as there will be heavy machinery and workers in the street.
Pavement removal and replacement will begin upon the completion of the underground sewer work. This phase of the project will begin on Lawn Avenue. The contractor will work on Lawn Avenue until the roadway pavement, curb/gutter, and sidewalk is completed before moving to Johnson Avenue. Staff will send out a more detailed pavement schedule once the underground sewer work is nearing completion. Residents on Johnson Avenue should expect work to begin closer to the end of September, barring any construction delays.
East/West Lawn Avenue Alley Access
Staff will send out an additional update during the underground sewer portion of the project. The update will outline the opening dates for the temporary alley access on the east and west side of Lawn Avenue. For more information, please visit the 2018 Roadway Program page for the east/west temporary access maps.
