Flood Assistance
As a result of the recent storms, the State of Illinois has declared Cook County as a disaster area. Cook County cannot provide financial assistance unless the federal government declares the impacted areas to be a disaster area. Data and evidence must be compiled to assess the amount of damage that was caused by the flooding. If approved by the federal government, the declaration would allow residents to apply for federal disaster aid programs, including low-interest loans to finance repairs. The criteria for assistance is very precise and likely will not cover personal possessions, furniture and appliances except for those residents who meet certain income guidelines.
Residents who incurred property damage from the July 24th storm event can assist the Village compile storm damage information by completing an Initial Damage Assessment form. Completed forms must be submitted by Friday, August 13, 2010.
The form is available in two formats:
word or
.pdf. The word format will allow you to fill in the form on your computer and send it by e-mail. If you chose the .pdf format, then you must print the form, fill it out and mail or fax it to the Village Hall.
